‘Painting with light’ is a technique in which the photographer approaches the subject in near darkness using light as ‘paint’ and a flashlight as a ‘brush’ or in subdued daylight with a single flash unit. In both cases the scene is lit in segments which are then layered together in post-production to create the final image.
