Feed Mill Interior 1
I get to meet a lot of great people in my line of work. The owner was extremely gracious and accommodating in allowing two crazy guys with flashlights to explore his mill, so a big thanks to Brad! And, thanks also to my friend Don for finding this place.
I love architecture. But I’m also fascinated by the evolution of design in manufacturing, in this case cattle feed. Machines grow based solely on function, yet there’s often an aesthetic that appeals to me.
The Ice Light once again worked flawlessly.

Ice Light II
Another session with the Ice Light and a chance to simply practice painting techniques. Although this scene is far from a ‘sweeping landscape’, it’s still a large area to paint and with it comes the challenge of how to visually layer the different elements and bring out the inherent textures. Flooding the scene with light would be quick and easy … but it’s not an approach that would yield anything compelling. Knowing where to apply light and where to retain shadow, important to any photographic technique, involves a learning curve. My approach … do it often / pay attention.
And the ‘Ice Light’ … love it.
